80 Years of excellence in Marine Electronics

Marine Origins

Electronic Navigation Limited the organisation behind WASSP was established in 1945 as a small New
Zealand company. From its inception the company was at the forefront of marine electronic navigation making radio direction finders for fishing vessels.

Strong Global Partnerships

In the 60's parent company ENL became the sole distributor of Furuno marine electronics for New Zealand. Partnerships with other world leading brands were established over the following decades, making the company a major force in both the recreational and commercial marine sectors across the pacific.

A focus on Innovation

ENL formally established its research and development division in 1990, to harness the ongoing solutioning expertise of its team members. Work on the very first generation of WASSP Multibeam began not long after with a goal to create a tool for fisherman to save time and fuel in finding suitable habitat.

The first WASSP

WASSP was commercialised and installed on the first vessel - giving commercial fisherman in New Zealand a huge advantage in finding productive habitat saving them considerable time and money. Generation 2 WASSP was later released in 2013 as the technology advanced further.

WASSP goes Global

With the release of the third generation WASSP and a new digital platform, WASSP expanded across global markets and gained significant market share particularly in commercial fishing. Additional features such as wireless connectivity and portable solutions enhanced the applications, proving to highly valuable in exploration and surveying situations.
